What companies need to have an Affirmative Action Policy in place? Our business is located in a county not governed by Affirmative Action; however, we are considering being proactive and developing a policy. Am wondering if this is a good idea or unnecessary.

Affirmative Action is a requirement of the federal government for contractors with over $50,000 in federal contracts. Many states and local municipalities also require it for their contractors.

If you are not a contractor required to have an AA program, I'd question why you'd want one. By all means, if you want your workforce to reflect the diversity of your community, do some research and see what you might want to do in terms of outreach to underrepresented demographic groups in your workforce.
