Medicare has recently rejected several of our EE SSNs, saying they are invalid numbers. We have verified the numbers against our file copies of the employees' SS cards. Has anyone run into this before

What information are you sending to Medicare on employees? Are these IRS mismatches?

You could always use the online Social Security Number Verificaiton system, but realize that if you do it for one employee, you need to do it for all employees. And be aware of what needs to happen if a mismatch occurs.

Did any of these employees use their SSN cards as proof of their legal right to work in the US on their I-9 forms?
