We recently found out an employee has Hep B. An employee (without our knowledge) says she was exposed when her co-worker "sneezed" on her. She went to her medical doctor and started the vaccination process. Then, she turned it into Workers Comp. Hep B cannot be transmitted through casual contact. We were unaware of her trip to the doctor. WC is refusing to pay the claim.
Any thoughts on this? Is an exposure work related? We spoke with the CDC and the local County Public Health and were assured that our employee with Hep B is not a threat through casual contact.

Then deny the claim and leave any future action up to this employee. Don't let a threat or fear paralyze you into inaction.
