Do you have the legal right to work in the US? In which state in the US do you want to work? Some states, such as California, New Jersey, New York and a few others have very specific state labor laws or specific case law which may be very different from US labor law in general. Be ready to demonstrate that you have knowledge of that state;s laws.
Does your consultancy have any US operations so that you can transfer??
Are there divisions of US companies in your area -- again for the purpose of getting hired and transferred.
Another option would be to contact the US firms that hire contract engineers/programmers from India to work in the US. They might be glad to have someone on board who knows the hiring and employment customs and practices in India, as well as the US.
good luck!
