My company is based in the UK and we are paid at the same frequency as they are which is once a month (25th). NO one here is particularly happy with the pay frequency but the only way that the folks in the UK will change it is if I can prove that bi-weekly pay is pretty much the standard in the US.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any studies on payroll frequency anywhere to back it up. I've checked with our payroll company (ADP), the DOL, and the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

Does anyone have any idea where I could find some solid stats that track pay frequency in the US? I'm going to London in a month and would like to have this information before I leave.

Thank you all so much!

Jennifer

The state(s) your company is in will probably have some regulations on pay frequency. Usually it's either at least every 14 days or twice per month or sometimes once per month. Check with your local state labor board(s). Aside from the law, it's almost always every two weeks.

More than thirty states require at least twice a month, if not bi-weekly or even weekly.

Although it may not carry much weight with the UK firm, the U.S. government is totally on bi-weekly pay. That includes the military and some large quasi-governmental organizations like the U.S. Postal Service. Overall nearly 4 million employees.
