I have done quite a bit of research on the work/life issue. However, I have not focused on IT per se. Let me know if you would be interested in some references to articles/sites that I have found.

I'm interested in the sites you have found. Our retention rate is not historically poor but of late...could use some assistance. Thanks.

Dear DLG,

The issue of retention of IT professionals is shared among many organizations world wide. Im part of a team of external consultants working with IBM Global Network Services as part of an initiative to retain top performers in the organizations, by delivering career management to employees, while measuring human capital assets. The initiative called eCareer Management (on-line), allows employees to self-manage their careers, and grow within the organizations. One of the underling issues is that employees are not aware of the opportunities within and organization, what they need to get there, and how to get there. We think we have addressed this challenge, results show that there is 91% satisfaction with this process from an employee perspective. And the company can now make strategic decisions with regards to retention, in fact it does beyond retention, because this process can be driven all the way up to selection and recruiting. Companies can now deliver on their promises of developing employees careers, changing from being training organizations for other start-ups, to being and employee of preference in the long term.

If you would like to discus this further, and what the process looks like, please feel free to contact me at: bcrespi@estaffing.cc or 416-444-9172 ext 251.

Best regards,
