Anyone have any experience addressing the retention of women and minorities? Do women and minorities emphasize different concerns than white men relative to "why quit/why join"? Is tehre any evidence

Just a quick suggestion, read Deborah Tannen's excellent book TALKING FROM 9 TO 5: MEN AND WOMEN AT WORK. It will lend tremendous insight to the differences between men and women in the work environment as well as reinforce things you have probably intuitively observed. Turnover is always directly impacted by a number of factors especially the goals of the individual(s). "White men" is a huge generalization. You might wish to break this down into something which could be understood / addressed more easily, e.g. white, married males; white males w/ children at home, etc. I realize this information is not readily available due to issues of discrimination, however, your generalities need to be a little smaller. Also if you conduct exit interviews, look at the content of those reasopns for leaving. Good luck.

Go to www.workforce.com/archive and click on "diversity," which is the eighth one down on the left.

There are some good things, particularly the article "Minority Execs Want an Even Break."
