I work for a small recruiting firm specializing in contract and permanent placement within the automotive field. We provide training resources to the industry - instructors, writers, developers, etc. I am trying to think of new ways to find qualified candidates aside from resume websites and employee referrals. We are already using both of these methods and need some new ideas.

Try directory tunneling and newsgroup rousing. Some may say directory tunneling is unethical, since it sometimes involves disguising your identity to get what you want. But there are different ways of doing it - either go straight or undercover.

Greetings,

One of the best ways to finding qualified candidates within the automotive industry is to go where they gather online (and also participate in their forums as well).

Some places that have forums, niche job boards and the like include:

The Society of Automotive Engineers at http://www.sae.org/ (many industry forums, also a niche job board)

Data Detroit at http://www.datadetroit.com/ (lots of resources)

http://www.autojobs.com/

http://www.needtechs.com/

Bunches of sites at http://directory.google.com/Top/Business/Industries/Manufacturing/Automotive/Employment/Job_Search/

http://www.carforums.com/ might provide leads as well.

One thing to consider as well is showcasing on your web site why your candidates would want to work for you. What is it that you offer that other firms don't? What's your selling points? What would make your candidates tell their peers they should check you out?

Hope the above helps,
