recruiting cost accountant

Our company has grown to the point where we need to hire a full time cost accountant. It is an area I'm not very familiar with -- I don't know what MRP, AS/400, JD Edwards etc are that I see in many cost accounting ads. Does anyone have some recommendations for me on web sites or other resources that I could use to quickly brush up on my knowlege of cost accounting?

You might want to start with your own company's controller or CFO. They're the ones best positioned to explain the cost accounting terminology and what skills they're looking for in candidates. If you don't, you'll be spinning your wheels for a while, and possible giving them candidates so far off base that you'll be jeopardizing your credibility. Besides, I don't think you'll find a Cost Accounting for Dummies book anywhere.

FYI:

MRP: Materials Resource Planning. It's an integrated accounting/purchasing/manufacturing planning software package. ERP (enterprise resource planning is another term)

AS/400: Big IBM computer

JD Edwards: A business software company based in Denver, CO. They sell things like MRP's.
