I am attemping to calculate the annual turnover rate in terms of a percentage. The current model that I am following doesn't seem to be accurate. Does anyone have a simply formula to follow?

There are two commonly used methods for calculating monthly or annual turnover rates:

- Divide the total number of separations in the period (i.e month or year) by the total number of employees at the end of the period * 100

- Divide the total number of separations in the period by the number of employees exactly halfway during the period * 100

The method you use would depend on the seasonality of your business but to make any sense of the figures, you must be consistent in the method you use.

There's a cute little employee turnover cost calculator available online at http://www.expresspersonnel.com/toc1.asp
