If it's not too late, I would also like to receive any information on creating an applicant tracking system in Excel or Access. My company will be working on an applicant tracking system later in the year, but I need something now for our HR field.

I too work for a staffing firm and the number of applications is huge...an effective tracking system is in desperate need. Any information regarding this will be greately appreciated. |

Good Day everyone, as a New Poster I would like to say Hello and thanks for allowing me to the opportunity to post.
As a Recruiter I have been using Outlook for the Past 8 years as a recruiting Tracking Tool/ATS -after unstability with another Program. I am so amazed at the speed and thoroughness in which I can achieve, distinguish and name my contacts- both clients and candidates Many are not aware of the Tremendous Capacity of Outlook.. Outlook is an excellent recruiting management tool, with outstanding yet easy hidden functions, Yes with Add On Tools (many which are free) it can also be shared by many operators, and can do so much more than meets the eye Outlook 2003 (in the Office Version only) even comes with a business contact manager - an added feature that is quite amazing which has the ability to manage your business contacts, track sales opportunities, and run reports Regarding Outlook - I do have a forum on another site regarding using Outlook as an ATS but here are some things I mention Outlook 2003 Is 20 Gig, allegedly with the BCM it is larger - with ovr 25k resumes and No I personally do Not archive I still have not hit the 1 gig mark Outlook with or without the BCM on is a STrong Data Managment tool - resume and data can be easily managed from one Place - Your outlook program. Creating Folders and subfolders for the Resumes based upon Job Titles, and within those folders columns based upon specific criteria can be created to allow for easy sorting by date, time, name, title and such like The subject line and body of e-mails can be edited and documents (attachments) can be cut and pasted into e-mails so everything is all at one spot. No duplication in hunting and searching for information. There is so much that it can do, much more than I described here. Especially if one also is using a desktop search tool I have a group regarding using outlook as an ATS where questions and answers can be found, but there are some really great websites on the Net that also provide the same information and assistance.
