How can I create applicant tracking system?

Why, oh why, would you want to go to the time and trouble of creating an applicant tracking system of your own when you can find so many out there with far more functionality and at a low cost?

Take a look at Taleo (about $99 per month) or cibizsoft (about $39 per month). These will allow you to post positions automatically, track resumes to requisitions, manage candidate contact and so many other things that using Excel seems like driving a Model T Ford in comparison.

No need to mess with Excel spreadsheets.

I know you've been bombarded with requests, but I was just contemplating a tracking system. My company would much prefer to build one inhouse. Info. on Access and Excel tracking systems would be greatly appreciated.
