Depends on what kind of positions you're trying to fill.

Since Careerbuilder is a partner with Tribune Newspapers, its likely that your local newspaper uses Careerbuilder as their online job posting service. So, if someone wants to look in the local newspaper for a job, and then goes online to that newspaper website, they will see your Careerbuilder ad.

More bang for the buck!

It really does depend on the type of job that you are advertising. My experience has been that CB is great for sales related and medical type positions. Monster is great for entry level.....that said, I would highly encourage you to use any of their screening tools. They each have the option for employers to have the candiates answer questions that could screen them in, or out, of the selection process. If you don't use them, you could be inundated with hundreds of unqualified applicants.

Just a few thougths.

Honestly CareerBuilder has been great for high volume ad response within just a few days posting. If you are looking for resume search capability Monster is the way to go. The new thing that CB has done recently is they have taken away the ability to refresh job orders, meaning your job order you post becomes virtually useless around the 2nd week, despite your 30 days. They took the functionality away with no notice to the customer.

I prefer Careerbuilder over Monster. I recieve high volume of resumes of mostly qualified candidates for my sales positions. I tend to get better candidates from CB vs. Monster.

To the last response ....Although you cannot refresh your 30-day Careerbuilder posting - you cannot refresh your 30-day Monster posting either....can you? Only Hotjobs allows that functionality.

Good luck on your decision.

I use neither. You get too many unqualified applicants that you have to sort through. It is all a numbers game with both of them. I prefer niche sites more. More targeted and better quality.

I am in Chicago and find that I get better qualified applicants from careerbuilder than from monster. I won't post to monster anymore because I was inundated with unqualified applicants and people were calling me about the job months after the job posting came down.

I posted the same position (entry to mid-level accounting)on both sites last week. I had many, many more qualified applicants from Monster than I did from CB. I think it really does depend on the job.
