We hire customer service representatives that have pretty challenging sales goals as well. I am taking a hard look at the individuals we are recruiting and don't have a sense we are getting the strongest sales people (goals are not being met etc) despite the fact that they have done sales in the past and have good answers to the behavior based interview questions. So, we are looking to modify our customer service/sales job description and interview guide and have decided that the best way is to conduct somewhat of a focus group with our top performers. We want to ask them what they feel are the skills and experiences in their past that have helped them be a top performer. Has anyone ever done this and if so what types of questions have you asked to gleen this information?
