Hi:We are having a hard time finding associates for the hotel I'm working. This is an upscale hotel with nice surroundings. We advertise the positions on newspapers, radio and TV and in the web, every week. After all that, we get like six applications every week and half of them from walk-ins. The positons are for housekeepers, houseman, cooks, bartenders... We offer competitive wages and benefits and the working environment is good.
All the hotels in the area are having the same issue. The area is expensive and the education level is very high.
Does anyone ae having the same issues????
Thanks for any idea....

Have you considered an employee referral program?
Employees are encouraged to talk with those they know to apply. When those new employees meet certain requirements (length of employment, no disciplinary actions, etc) then the referring employee is rewarded with cash or other gift.

There are things that are more high cost like the big job fairs and postings in prominant papers.
There are also low cost ideas like reaching out to your local DOL and posting at local colleges. Local DOL usually have very budget friendly job fairs. You can also do free trainings and become one of their preferred employers.
It has been my experience at the various properties I have worked at that housekeeping staff are usually mostly of one ethnicity. The ethnicity varies from property to property. Maybe you would be successful utilizing small local papers and small magazines that target those groups.

Give a try to internship programs or you can also recuit freshers on probation basis and later confirm their employment on satisfactory completion of the OJT.
