Last Fall, we began talking about the advent of Web 2.0. Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy for President via the Web. Now we have a brand new tool in our screening and interviewing arsenal -- the video interview.

This is not to be confused with the deplorable YouTube video resume we heard about last year. This is interviewing done in a fair and equitable environment with equal questions presented to each candidate via a video interview.

This is reputed to be more cost effective in many ways, as well as meeting EEOC requirements. I've talked with one vendor, Bryan St.Laurent of InterviewUSA, who has explained many aspects of this tool to me.

So I asked him to present to my L.A. Metro Recruiter Network via our online networking meeting on March 13 ("http://www.smartcal.com/event/2213256?calendarId=1587870&view=Monthly&startDate=20070313"). He promised to explain the new technology, the differences between the interviewing compared with the resume, and many other aspects of the tool.

What he's also pointed out is how useful this is for initial steps toward onboarding separated military personnel and how cost effective it is for candidates who will require relocation.

I hope you'll consider joining the networking meeting. Have any of you heard about this technology or considered it?

Been using it for years both as the head of HR and as a candidate. The technology has improved significantly since I first started using it.
