I work as an independent Human Capital/Talent Acquisition Consultant and have recently been retained by a company who insists on utilizing cold calling as the primary recruitment tool. I've been in recruiting for about five years and have never been limited to only one "tool". I have tried to sell the benefits of utilizing a plethora of areas, but they're not interested.

Here’s my problem, I’m not an expert at cold calling and I’m not sure where to begin or how to even effectively attack this. I’ve read several pieces of material and they say what you should do just not how to do it. Specifically I’m recruiting Business Analysts/Account Managers in the Risk Management Information Systems area. I want to know gorilla recruiting tactics and how to implement them into my strategy; the research, script building, getting into the companies and finding the passive candidates, can anyone help??

I hope I'm not too late with this response, but the best advice I've received on cold calling for new business and cold calling for recruits have come from Peter Lefkowitz, Scott Love, and Danny Cahill. You may have of some of these folks, they are, in my opinion, the best trainers in the industry.

A lot of people say that cold calling is an outdated marketing tool for the recruiter, but I completely disagree. The key to being good at using the phone to recruit is feeling confident about asking for referrals from every person you speak with.

In order to 'connect' with potential recruits, you have to talk to them on the phone, hands down. Email just won't cut it.

Hope This Helps,
