I'm trying to increase our diversity applicant pool. Aside from posting jobs on diversity specific websites, what can I do?

Contact local diversity groups/agencies to get your foot in the door. They can provide many sources to generate activity and advertise your jobs. Many communities have career fairs specifically for minorities and women. I have found that once I have networked with these groups they are as anxious to send me leads as I am in getting them. Then it is sourcing time!

Radio stations might be a good option. Radio ads work well for us.

I would recommend the large diversity organizations, depending on the experience levels you are looking for, such as:

NSHMBA
NBMBAA
SHPE
ALPFA
LEAD Program in Business

Your best recruiting source are your employees followed by the internet. Employee networks would be the first place to start.

Of course this is centered around your organization having a diversity program supported by top management

Many employee referals are great. Just one catch... You may just get more of what you already have: i.e. more white males/females of varying height!

I would suggest you tap into some minority forums like one of the previous folks mentioned.

Contact agencies that could provide qualified job pools of applicants meeting many compliance requirements. For example the Department of Veteran affairs provide degree programs, certifications, licensure programs to highly disciplined, professionals with diverse experiences and backgrounds. There you may find several categories of diversity fulfilled: gender, cultural/ethnic, age, veteran, disabled, etc.

How about you go directly to their community and post your job description there? For example, if you want Chinese, you may want to go to China town, and so on. This can save you some costs and reach a bigger group with different personalities and qualifications.
