What do you verify when you check a prospect's employment history? Dates of employmet? salary? How do you handle past employers who are no longer in business or unreachable?

You try to verify as much as you can to see if the resume or information related to by the applicant is accurate. The minimums would be:
Name of Employer
Dates of Employment
Job Titles while employed.
Salary (if they are willing to provide)
Eligible for rehire ( if they are willing to provide)

If the company is out of business ask for a reference that worked at the company during the period the applicant did. They should be able to confirm some information.
