Hello all - we have a signed offer letter but the person did not show up on the first day because of an emergency. He called later that day but two weeks later and after many voicemails and emails we have not heard from him.
Do we have any obligation to send something in writing recanting the offer and if so does anyone have a sample??? Thanks! |

We send one, but more to manage the hire's expectations of continued employment than due to anything we're obligated to do.
Ours goes something like: Dear EE: This letter is to confirm that effective [date], your offer of employment with Company has been rescinded. Your failure to report to orientation on [date] does not demonstrate an ability or willingness to meet the expectations of your position. Please contact me if you have any questions related to this matter. It is unfortunate that our employment relationship did not meet our mutual expectations. We wish you the best in your future career pursuits. Sincerely, HR |
