Employease, Simpata, TriNet..?
Discuss how to choose system that will yield the best results, as well as how to maintain it, and how to calculate its return on investment.
I would like to hear anyone's experience with any of the above listed web based HRMS technologies. The good and the bad..! Mike Theimer

one of these companies is actively trying to get us to buy their product and came down in their monthly maintenance fee over 50%. I am only concerned that it is an untested product for which we will pay for while we are in a beta situation. I am reluctant now to sign on but I really do like the product. I want a very simple HRIS that will allow me to have some control and oversight, but allow all employees to manage their own basic info.

We looked very seriously at Simpata, but determined that they just weren't ready for prime time. Actually, no one we looked at (and we feel like we looked at them ALL , with the exception of Best Software's Imperative product was even close. We concluded that true employee self service was still 9-12 months out (and truly integrated online benefit enrollment even further out). Rather than spending 25-100K now, we've gone with a low-end system (HR Office by Ascentis) now, and will upgrade to their enterprise version as soon as they implement the employee self service version (easily within 12 months).

Just an FYI that might be helpful, I have run into a company used by a couple of my clients (I owrk in the HR consulting arena) who use a software product from a company called Performaworks. They have a pretty impressive (from what I've seen)performance managment application that is hosted. One of my clients actually worked with the company on the beta, so I know they are past that stage since you mentioned that as a concern.

Hi Nancy,
Look at PWA/Personnel. Completely Microsoft GUI, very userfriendly, you can work with it after one day of training. provides also employee self service.

Mike,
From what I hear they fit some situations and don't fit others. The focus is strongly on Benefits and not that strong on overall HR functionality. If you want a full functionality HR system with good web capabilities - check out Spectrum
