Discuss how to choose system that will yield the best results, as well as how to maintain it, and how to calculate its return on investment.
Anyone using the SAP HR software? We will move to that in the fall, if you have it what problems do you have and what success stories to do you have, I would appreciate any info. Tks

We are currently implementing SAP throughout our organization. We are set to "go live" in HR on August 19. Our parent company, Raytheon Aircraft, had some difficulties when they implemented SAP early this year. I'll let you know how things progress for us.

What system are you currently using and why the change?

Ours is in two stages: the first stage-payroll and master data will go live end of this year. Next stage on Performance Management System, Training, Recruitment, Succession Planning etc will launch next June. My experience so far is you need:
(1) Top Mgt commitment and support - suggest a Steering Committee
(2) Full involvment of the Process Owners
(3) Adequate resources especially if you have a long history, lots of current and past data you need cleaning and keeping, lots of old practices that may need changing (should change them first, if you still have time).
(4) Project team members should have a good mix of business-minded HR people as well as technical people.
(5) Make sure there is a skill transfer from the SAP consultants right from inception.
(6) Must have a change managemnet plan ready that focus on the vulnerable areas of the Organization.
(7) Test and document thoroughly and meticulously.
These are what I've gathered so far. Hope you'll find it helpful. Good luck.

From my work as a support consultant for SAP HR I can confirm the advice squirrel gave!
Top Management commitment is one of the most important things. Plus, top management must be prepared to spend some amount on training.
Change Management is also critical to prepare the project team as well as the ultimate end-user.
Also keep everybody informed about project progress - /> communication is vital!
Equally important is to get used to the support structure of SAP.
Last but not least: the SAP HR module is quite complex, but this bears the advantage that you can handle a vast variety of situations especially in payroll.
Hope this helps and good luck!

We are using Ceridian's HRPR for DOS, old but powerful. It is an on line HR and payroll interface system. Not sure what interface we will have with SAP
would be nice to have an on line "SAP HR user group" we have one now with Ceridian, we meet each quarter and discuss ways to use the system, get ideas and share problems and solutions.
Tks for responding

Tks, it is all so new, the system I have now is so easy to customize. I think I will miss that.

We have been involved with our clients implementation of SAP HR. They were going to use MySAP for the benefits enrollment and communications and send the information to us, BISNet (www.bisnet.com), to electronically communicate with carriers and TPA's. The gap analysis we did of the data that SAP processes showed a substantial gap. If you will be doing ESS/MSS for web enrollment and administration, consider a system that can communicate with SAP HR and provide a best of breed solution. Also offers much more flexability.
