Similar to posting earlier, only now am near graduation! Seeking organizations / tips for finding jobs that will let me combine HR with technology. Could be a generalist role with some experience in tech or mainly tech based.
I graduate in May and did an HRIS internship over the summer. This mainly involved producing a conceptual design for HR software product in way that communicated the design to Technical Development staff (Visio and Word documents, including Use Cases).
I will have had 2 HRIS course, including one with an applied company project. Also taking e-People, which focuses on the connection between people and internet technology. I am also the Chairperson of the Special Projects committee of SHRM (the our school's student chapter), where I am currently overseeing and working on a Knowledge Management project for a local company.
Any tips are much appreciated. Thank-you!!

How about working for one of the large, national payroll providers? Or work for a smaller payroll provider, as I do, doing installation/implementation/trainin/support for HRIS clients.
You could also use the website to your advantage- do searches on HRIS, or technology and HR in the keyword search.
I would bet the companies that could really "use you", don't know it, and wouldn't want to trust a recent grad. So, going into HR for a larger organization as a generalist, with a strong emphasis on their technical systems could get you somewhere.
Lots of large companies that have entry level HRIS jobs are really more like HRIS gophers - they're the front line for all inquiries into report-writing, or trouble shooting.
*any* job that has an HRIS system will be great for you. That is how I got into my role - I was a coordinator at a hotel, that happened to have purchased a system... then I got really good at it, whipped the data into shape, provided tons of never-before data to upper management... and voila, now I'm working for the payroll company itself where I was a client of theirs at the hotel.

Have you considered technical or IT recruiting?

I don't know if IT recruiting would be useful or not, as I don't have much of a technical background, really. I have worked on a HRIS, but I don't know that much about programming, databases, hardware, etc.
I would like to take more courses in this area after I graduate however (no time in my current schedule).
