As an addition to my recent posting, I should mention that I have also taken course in Organizational Change and Organizational Development, and am interested in these areas as well. Would like to get some experience doing an implementation and helping employees adjust to change.

A consulting position may be the right direction, which would be great, but I do not wish to travel a large percentage of the time. However, I am very open for permanent relocation.

Thanks again!

Even for a consulting position it is valuable to have some experience in HR. That is the route I took. I went into HR and learned how the Business Processes meshed with the HRMS systems in place. I think that a good idea may be to take a generalist role and as you develop lean towards business process for the HRMS. I found that it was a smooth transition for me and now I work as a Functional Expert for HRMS systems. Basically making sure Business Processes work with the HRMS systems.

Thanks for the advice! Yes, I am hoping to go for a more broad role, at least to start out. If anyone has contacts in the Chicago or Indianapolis areas, let me know. Those are the areas I am most interested in relocating to (open to all in U.S., however).
