Knowledge Management system

I am currently heading up a volunteer project (with members of our student SHRM chapter) designing and implementing a Knowledge Management system for them.

Since this project must be low-cost, a high end system such as Oracle is out of the question. We will most likely use
Access, or build our own.

Any suggestions for how to build/organize the information? It will later be linked to the company's intranet.

we have very successfully built knowledge management applications in frontpage. i highly suggest you explore that option as it is relatively easy and inexpensive. the biggest issue is architecting the information. i would be happy to help you organize your thoughts for this volunteer effort.
