We want to make it easy for employers to access our students. From a centre's perspective, there is a fundamental problem in serving both students and employers. Both need to minimize the time spent on the basics. With all the new HR technology and web job sites, employers may be required to go to several school sites to post jobs, receive applications etc. and students may have to seek out company sites to find job listings and apply. As a career office we want to ensure that our technology does not conflict with employer technology.

In the past year, we have seen a move by employers to post summer, co-op, internship and graduate jobs on their own site rather than at the career centre. Is this a trend? If so, what can career centre's do to ensure students are aware of company recruitment sites and/or what technology would help facilitate the on-campus recruitment process?

Try www.experience.com which has a program called eRecruiting Network. It allows students to post resumes, companies to post job and internship openings for your students, etc.

In a former position, I was responsible for staffing for a 6000 employee org, including college recruiting. One tool that appealed to us was the Web Resume Book (URL: http://wrb.resumeexpert.com/). It was simple to register, free to employers and it allowed us to view resume's of graduating students and with some schools, included resumes of alumni.

FWIW: It has been over 3 years since I used this service so I don't know if it's still viable but give it a look.
