PerfectSoftware's hr Windows vs. ADP's HR Perspective
Discuss how to choose system that will yield the best results, as well as how to maintain it, and how to calculate its return on investment.
We have 300 employees and are looking for a new HRIS system. The one we have now is being discontinued. We currently run our payroll through ADP, but are not necessarily looking to interface with ADP.

I'd really like to hear from anyone who is currently using ADP's HR Perspective.

We are also considering Perfect Software's hrWindows, which I have yet to see or hear anything about. Please share comments.

Thanks for your time.

Take a look at Ascentis Software product HROffice, it tightly integrates with ADP and is a full functioning HR and Benefits management program.

I joined this Company about 10 months ago and it was my first experience with HR Perspective. I've also worked with PeopleSoft, Abra and a very old DOS based system called MSA.

I have not found HR Perspective to be very intuitive or flexible. It can do what is required, but we call tech support regularly for assistance. The structure seems overly complex.

We are two versions behind and were ready to upgrade. However, I wanted to research other options as I don't like this system very much.

Generally, I have found that ADP tends to nickel and dime for services. The Benefit module and recruitment module each add additional costs to the monthly support and the fees seem high, although I have not comparison shopped.

Good Luck,

I know you are probably not wanting other options, but Mangrove Software has a really good program that has integrated payroll, hr, ess, mss, recruitment, etc. Their web address is: www.mangrovesoftware.com in case you just want to give it a look. I am not sure it can interface with ADP or not.

Check if Xceed (TM) HRM can meet your requirements.
It integrates with many applications. www.alliedsoftconsulting.com

We use PrefectSoftware's hrWindow's HRIS and it works great. It interfaces nicely with ADP. The problem with using ADP for both payroll and HR is that if you ever change your payroll you then have to change your HR. This can be a big hassel. Of course budget and requirements mean everything you sound like you fall into the hrWindow's niche

HR Perspective works best for companies with well-defined, separate HR and Payroll functions. Changes (new hires, terms, rate changes) on the "HR side" are "acknowledged" by the "Payroll side" in a checks and balances scenario.

HR Perspective also gives you modules for staffing, training, etc. and allows Employee Self Service (ESS) capability. I've heard good things about the tech support (out of Chicago) with hours of 7am to 7:30pm PDT. Be sure to ask about the differences in Report Smith on HR Perspective (not good or bad necessarily, just different).

If you are open to other solutions, you should look at Nuview Systems' MyHRIS, which is a web-native modular system that includes benefits administration, recruiting, training and self-service options. It may be purchased or leased (ASP) and it fully integrates with ADP (and hundreds of other payroll packages). See www.nuviewinc.com

I'm a fan of Perfect software. We implemented the system about 3 years ago and I've been very happy with it. We currently have about 75 employees. Their customer service is top notch. I'm curious if you ended up choosing Perfect for your HRIS?

We were one of the original users of HRPerspective and recently upgraded to v4.5. It gets a little better every upgrade, we skipped v3, but it is a complicated system. It does work very well with payroll, and you can audit all the changes made, but the 2 report writers are extremely different. I find the HR version too difficult for the everyday user. They don't make it easy to pick and choose the info you want in a report with using lots of formulas. And fields in HR are different than in PR. They need to work on integrating this info and make it more HR friendly. Maybe they need more clerical and analytical HR people to help in the design?!
