Discuss how to choose system that will yield the best results, as well as how to maintain it, and how to calculate its return on investment.
We are considering Ceridian Source Link - Source 500 Interface to work with our PS V 7.5. Anyone have any comments about the Ceridian product?

Please be aware all vendors have access to the forums and some will post negative comments about their competitors in an effort to sway opinions toward their services. The brighter ones will post under typical home internet providers (such as AOL). However, a few are either not bright enough to realize that their e-mail addresses are listed with the extension stating their company's name or they don't care.

I have used ADP for several years, and have been very happy with it. We use PCPW, HR Profile, Reportsmith and also ETimesheet, and have had very few problems. Support has been wonderful, they have even called me back several days later to make sure everything is ok. I agree that the newest version of Reportsmith is more difficult to use, especially exporting into Excel, but it is still very versatile.

Our company changed from ADP to Ceridian thinking we were getting a better product. It appeared to be a better product in the beginning, however, there are so many errors, problems and non-support from our support team, that we are considering another payroll system.

We currently use ADP for our payroll and are looking at Ceridian as an alternative...

Any comments? Suggestions? Metaphysical Speculations?...

Ihad been an ADP user for over 15 years and we switched to Millinium through Payroll Central in 2001. They have since been purchased by Paychecks, so I am waiting for the change notice to hit. We have been told that we are staying on the Millinium software for now. It is great compared to ADP and they are much more liberal when it comes to setting up accounting structures. It was a little shakey at first, but works well now that we have the kinks out. You can get a person to talk to rather quickly.

We tried Paychex for 6 months and it was not compatible with our Citrix server environment. We went back to ADP for the reliablitiy of the payroll and tax services.

Doug P specifically asked about Ameripay - a Chicagoland payroll service using the Millenium software product. I am a HUGE fan of Ameripay for two primary reasons:
1. Flexibility of the Millenium product. Ameripay will work with you for benefit accruals, labor allocations, etc. Very easy to get reports - or create your own.
2. COST. I work for non-profit agencies - ADP's a la carte pricing is too cost-prohibitive. When I had ADP I had to keep my own Access database to track benefit accruals, wage garnishments and labor allocations. I know ADP's software has the capability to do these things - but for an agency of less than 50 employees - it meant an additional $4200 a year. I can provide a lot of client services for $4200.
As others have said, a lot of the decision regarding payroll software will come down to personal preference. My personal preference - Millenium software, and Ameripay payroll services.

We are also planning to move from a home grown rpg based HR/Payroll system. Any comments on Peoplesoft as a solution?

Re ajp query regarding Peoplesoft.

I assume you are a big company with lots of employees, lots of smart IT support, and lots of money to spend on implementation.

All the stories I have heard it that it is very IT itensive for support and you can spend hundreds of thousands (or more) for conversion and go live. Apparently, more bells and whistles than most employers need, but customizations are very expensive.
