We are looking at a few HRIS systems to replace our current HR/Payroll system. I would like to hear what people have to say about Ultimate Ulti-Pro, Sage Abra, and Kronos.

(I am the payroll manager for Major League Baseball's central offices)We switched to UltiPro in January '04. Prior to that we were using a traditional service bureau, but wanted to gain more control over our data in addition to gaining more control over the payroll process in general. UltiPro's Intersourcing environment allowed us to achieve this without having to get our IT Dept involved since the Intersourcing envirnonment is hosted by Ultimate. Since we have converted, we have been very happy with the product and Ultimate as a whole. Their customer service is much better than what we had with our previous provider. Therefore, if you are looking for an approach in which you have complete control over the payroll process as you would with an in-house solution, but do not want the hassle of having to perform all the technical upgrades and having to support the software, Intersourcing is something you should definitely consider. We recently installed a new payroll HRIS and Timekeeping system. Our finalists were Kronos and Ultimate. Both good systems in my view. For us Kronos turned out to be teh best fit.
We went live on payroll in January and have no regrets with our decision.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the deciding factor between Kronos and Ultimate?

It came down to price. Kronos offered Timekeeper, HR and payroll. At the time Ultimate did not offer their own Timekeeper, but I understand they currently have a vendor they have partnered with for timekkeping.
