I posted an earlier message about our newly formed Trainers'Forum here in Orapa, Botswana. Just a little more information about us. Although we are aiming to become a national body in time, we are currently limited to a very isolated but very large mine in the middle of the bush and about 232 Km from the nearest town of any significant size.
Isolation is our problem and our challenge. We would value any information on bodies that we can link up with, useful websites for research, accessible educational institutions online, anything that helps connect us with the rest of the training and business worlds out there.
Many thanks. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Oliver:
While I don't know all the details of your situation, it sounds as though you have a real challenge in delivering training to very remote locations. If this is the case, I am aware of a mobile, training delivery system that has been used in the State of Alabama for almost 30 years, and has also been used in parts of South America to deliver training to remote locations. Basically it is a system composed of specially engineered mobile training units that are configured to provide training in many different kinds of skill. When I was working with the Alabama Industrial Development Training Institute we had mobile units for training in Tool&Die, CNC Machining, Electronics, Welding, Instrumentation & Control Systems, electrical and mechanical maintenance, etc. We simply pulled up our units to a source of power and we were ready. In South America they mounted diesel generators to the front of the units and could start up training in the middle of the jungle, if necessary. There were also mobile classroom units that would accompany the technical units, when necessary.

If you would like more information about this kind of system, e-mail me at lipscomb@ucarb.com . I will provide you a contact name if it would prove beneficial.

Let me recommend a site for you. It is TrainSeek.com. This is, in my opinion, one of the very best sites for location of commercially available training materials. In addition, their database has links to many companies that offer on-line training. This may be what you would value most. This site has huge database with easy search process.

Hope this helps.
