There are many ways to measure, one that stands out most would be decrease in turnover. If we are effective in our training efforts our managers will be equiped to handle most all employee situations effectively.

It is also important to note that ROI may not be used on all training. To accept that this is a norm will only bring about disappointment. Try identifying training that is clearly associated with business or operational results. For example, consider the case of a new manufacturing system that is required to support the production. If people are not trained in this new system, production is zero. In this case, it is clear that ROI can be measured. Supposing 100 employees of average salary of $2000 are trained on this system over a period of 6 months, after which production is able to begin which leads to a revenue of $500,000, then it will be easy to calculate the ROI. The important point here is that the production was only able to commence as a result of the training being provided. Note though, that this is only an oversimplified illustration.
