I have been requested to prepare an in house harassment training program for our employees. I have no budget, therefore, would appreciate any advice on where to get free information that I can include in the training program. I would also appreciate any feedback on how to prepare an effective Harassment Training presentation

Let's see "no budget." If this means none as in 0 then you have a problem becasue time is money. If time and photocopying can be included then first emphasize to management that possibly your employment law firm can contribute materials which can be distributed. If you do not have one of those then possibly something from this site might help on the subject. The real hazard of this situation is training on a complex topic which involves both State and Federal laws and doing a poor or non defensible job. If you get hit with a discrimination action which is where harassment really falls then one of the first things that can get looked at is what training was provided to prevent this from happening. If it was inadequate then you might be increasing your problems. I would suggest to management that they re-think the non-budget issue. This is easily one of those "penny wise-pound foolish" scenarios which management may not realize that they are getting themselves into. I do not really believe that you / anyone can prepare an "effective" harrassment training presentation with no budget. Maybe the Feds. or the State have some brochures on this subject which you could distribute and have the employees sign off as having read.

Hi

We deliver such training in Australia - glad to share what we do here within government departments.

Our legislation will be a bit different but similar in intent I would guess.

Let me know if you would like to see what we do. Can send an outline of short presentations we do for clients - from one hour refresher sessions to three hour workshops including case studies. Also do coaching one on one for those "problem people" who need it.
