Diversity Training
A forum for exchanging ideas about skills training, leadership training, management training, compliance training, e-learning, as well as organizational development and effectiveness.
Does anyone have some good material on Diversity Training? I would like some good interesting and fun material. I'm putting together a module for 1/2 day training.

We have devloped a 1/2 day module as part of our leadership basics workshop.
I do not know if we can release it but I will find out. ALso there is an excellent video titled the village of 100. It is short but very powerful regarding thebusiness imperative for leveraging diversity in the workplace.

If you can release your 1/2 day diversity training material, I would like to get a copy. Also, can you tell me which company produces the video titled the villiage of 100?
Thanks

Diversity "training" is different than other topics in that it involves attitudenal changes. The sensitivity to diversity issues on the part of the facilitator are necessary in order to conduct diversity "training" effectively. I put "training" in parentheses because I really hate to see diversity awareness treated as any other training topic and presented off-the-shelf the same as learning a new software program. I don't mean to be insulting, but have seen diversity initiatives fail when the training and management do not "walk the talk." How can they if it's out of their field and they have not undergone an extensive self-education program?
In other words, if you have to ask where to find "diversity training" you should not be the person to facilitate diversity workshops. If you undertake a self-education/sensitivity awareness initiative, you will easily find the resources you need.
Best wishes in your efforts.

Here is a very simple exercise that can be used as part of Diversity Training. THis exercise not only allows the employees to move around but also to learn something about his/her fellow employees. We used this at my last company and it was very effective. Make a list of several things that a person might like or like to do (example: likes to fish, like to cook, likes scary movies, etc.) Read easch item and have the employees break into two groups - those that agree and those that disagree. As stated earlier, this will not only allow employees to learn something about their co-workers but will also illustrate the diversity of your workforce with out getting into racial or religious issues.
