Our company has experienced a growth spurt recently and have hired alot of new and inexperienced warehouse help. We are trying to re-start our safety committee and implement some new and needed training, as well as some incentive idea's to help promote it.

Our safety committe started in March. In June, during National Safety Month we offered CPR classes through our rescue squad and fire extinguisher training through our fire department. We had a nurse come and take blood pressure. We had never required safety shoes before and this policy was instituted with a $50 rebate. We did a lot of things that month to get everyone aware that the committee was going to be an active one this time. I attended an OSHA 10-hour course and from that learned about checklists to cover various aspects of safety. Each committee member was assigned several topics and turned in a checklist which we reviewed and tried to correct any deficiencies. Since June we have done forklift and lock-out/tag-out training, fire drills, etc. |
