We are currently working on setting up a course agreement policy for our employees. What I'm interested in is experiences on this, when to do it and when not, what threshold money-wise, for which courses etc.

What parameters you set depends on what kind of a budget you have. Generally speaking, what I've mostly experienced is for courses that relate specifically to the job, they would be eligible for 100% reimbursement upon successful completion of the course. For courses that would benefit you and the employee but are not directly related to the job, they would be eligible to receive 50% reimbursement upon successful completion. We have employees sign off saying that if they are to leave the employ of the company prior to one year after completion of the course, they would have to pay back 50% of what they received as reimbursement.
