Hi All.
This is my first time posting a question, so sorry if has been asked before.

I work in a big Multinational, where there is currently 3 training depts. I am studying T&D and my Final Year Project is to come up a proposal regarding having one Training Dept available to whole plant (with the 3 individual training depts continueing to work on their own specialised areas). Could anyone suggest the best way to approach this? I need to support this with litecture - could anyone suggest some useful readings. At present, some parts of the plant have not official training or induction.
Thanks

When thinking about what the overall training dept would look like and what would be its functions, you might want to look at the training management maturity model at http://www.businessperform.com/html/training_best_practice.html

There is a more in depth article at http://www.businessperform.com/html/system_effectiveness.html

The emphasis here is on creating an effective training function that is of real value to the business one that meets real business needs.

Remember when merging any business or function what is important is to focus on the objective. Some useful frameworks include:
Baldridge model (US)
Business Excellence model (EU)
Investors in people model (UK)

One of the factors you will need to look at is harmonisation of systems, forms etc. Have a look for books on mergers rather than training.
