HR professionals,

I am looking for a clear definition of employee engagement and productivity? What does each of them mean? What are the major elements of EE? What kind of metrics we can use to measure that?

How can we calculate the productivity? Especially in a manufacturing environment?

Thanks

Eric

Thats a lot of questions and Im not sure of the context of your questions, so I will be brief.

Clear definition of employee engagement? many researchers such as Gallup define it as the willingness of an employee to exert discretionary effort.

Clear definition of employee productivity? output per employee (either in financial or non-financial quantities).

What are the major elements of EE? includes goal setting, appropriate rewards and recognition, appropriate and timely feedback, sufficient resources to do the job, opportunities for socialization, clear roles and responsibilities, having a say in how the job is done (you could look up the research of Gallup, for example).

What kind of metrics we can use to measure EE? typically survey results. Indirect measures include retention, productivity, level of innovation.

Hope this helps.
