We'd like to put most of our New Employee Orientation online and send home CDRom prior to their start date. I'd like to see what other companies are doing - does anyone have a program online I can review?

Genentech sends their new hires a packet prior to their start date, complete with CD. I don't work there - I've only heard this from recruiters. It may be worth looking into... Good luck!

Put your employee information packet online, but please don't call it orientation.

It isn't.

Employee orientation is about integrating an employee into the workforce. It can't be accomplished by sending them a packet to read or in a one day meeting.

Thank you both for your responses. I will look into Genetech. And yes, I agree, poor choice of words; the CD will just provide them with a background and various FYI prior to meeting with company representatives.

Oreintation is very important for new employees. New employees should know the people who will deal and cooperate with in order to facilitate the communication which will lead to acheived the vision.
