What we have found works is the following activities:
-Ensure that the learning is interactive.
-Rollout a series of kick-off seminars for employees and supervisors.
-Publicize the e-learning course catalog.
-Run induction sessions for employees new to the e-learning system.
-Involve participant supervisors in identifying the relevant e-learning modules for each employee.
-Provide technical and procedural support from real people.
-Get participants to agree to a completion date.
-Track course progress and report to each participants supervisor.
The most important lessons are to ensure that the courses are tightly aligned with the organizations strategic and operational objectives and that managers and supervisors are intimately involved in identifying the employees needs and following up progress with the employee.
