Questions about training hours and training budget expenditures sometimes arise in this forum. The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) has released its 2006 State of the Industry Report on training in organizations.
For the United States, the basic findings for 2005 are: -Average annual expenditure per employee is $1,424 -Expenditure as a percentage of payroll is 2.20 percent -Number of hours of learning per employee is 41 hours -Percent of learning delivered through use of technology is 36.9 percent -Percent of learning budget outsourced to external services is 24.8 percent There are separate results for best practice organizations.
