Are there any formulas for forecasting the potential manpower? So far the way that my company takes is let every department's VP decide their future manpower needs. However, I think it's not so scient

Are there any formulas for forecasting the potential manpower? So far the way that my company takes is let every department's VP decide their future manpower needs. However, I think it's not so scientific. May I also ask how you guys' company do the manpower forecast?

Hi Annmlu,

I am new and just read your post. Have you made any progress since you posted?

I'm currently developing workforce planning processes and tools for some clients which use job analylsis as the foundation, collecting level of effort for tasks to determine optimal staffing needs. We also look at current staffing levels compared to the optinal state for a gap analysis.

We can control for internal and external factors that might influence staffing decisions as well.

Let me know if this is the direction you are looking and I can share more tips with you.
