What exactly do you train? It may be that your department just plain lacks visibility and accessability.

hey,

We're a KPO, and we offer various inhouse and outsourced training for e.g. Business Communication,Email writing skills etc. But people are simply not interested,so we get absolute no nominations for any trainings.I guess people aren't siply aware about the importance of the training in their professional lives.So just want to know few ideas which can generate that curiosity to attend the training and they get to know the advantage of attending trainings.we've tried sending mailers and putting posters in the organization already though.

It sounds like you need some support from executive management re the importance of training. This support could be in the form of guidelines that spell out either a specific budget for each employee for training or a training class requirement. Employees and their supervisor would have a goal to complete this training requirement. Not meeting the goal would be a negative against their performance review. The key to this is a belief from the top that training is important. Without that belief you might as well fold your training tent.

Depending upon the scope of your organization, what you can do is look at the business plan for the larger organization and latch training onto the goals of the business. Training does tend to be the "stepchild" of organizations and showing how it supports the larger organization can give it more visibility and credibility.

Training should always be linked to business strategies and skills gaps, otherwise you are not optimizing training resources.

Do you have a program that addresses developmetnal needs? If not, you can solicit advice from leaders, front line managers are a good place to start because they know what is needed now and in the future. Once they are involved in determining the needs, they will be more inclined to send you people to train. They have to see your efforts as a valuable investment because traiing always means lost productivity.
