Do any of you have experience / advice in this area of diversity training?

Peace, and best wishes of the holiday season to you all.

How important is this to your organization? If it is an organization that offers healthcare or education, the quality of service offered to your clients could be affected by certain religious and cultural differences differences. Otherwise, I don't see that it would apply.

Deltac:

We are not in education or heath care; but rather heavy industry. We have had some misunderstandings between employees with regard to religious customs and / or rituals performed on the job, and I thought it might be helpful to people to have a better understand of each other.

Yes, I see they are gone now. I haven't checked the forum rules; but I would suspect a moderator pulled them for violating some rule about advertising. No worries - I got the info I needed.

Thanks again.

Why would training on all religions be a bad thing? Depending on how diverse your employee (and customer) base is, education and awareness on many faiths can contribute in a positive way to better employee and customer relations by reducing ignorance and fear of "different" faiths.

We regularly host a panel with volunteers who speak on their own faith -- typically held in the fall, with representatives (clergy or non) of Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and depending on who is volunteering, sometimes B'Hai, Buddism, Greek or Russian Orthodox, etc. The open forum reduces the opportunity for participants to feel they're being pressured to "convert" when they just want to learn about other religions.

Since you're in the Heavy Industry where practice of religion or it's concepts does not add to operations and bottomline, I don't think this is necessary as it might become a distraction.
