In Response to Canadian Benefits: We are US company that is expanding into Canada. We plan on hiring very soon and need to know what companies do with offering benefits. I understand they are provincial and employers offer supplemental benefits for medical and RX. Can any share what carriers they use and what are the typical copays, deductibles, co-insurance, etc...Does provincial bennies apply 1st then supplemental as COB? What is typical employee contribution? Thanks Posted by MV Yes Provincial benefits (MSI) is used first then people use their private plans (employer sponsored group plans). There are many insurers in Canada. Best to speak to a broker and get some quotes. You can pick your own plan design basically for co-pays and coinsurances. In NS typical employer contribution to the plan is 50%. A typical group plan has Life Insurance, Dependent Life, AD&D.. Health & Dental. You Can also choose to get disability benefits. What Province are you moving your operations into? |

Posted by amalone Your best bet would be to contact a broker specializing in employee group benefits plans. |
