We don't have a program at my company, so I can't give you usage statistics, but I have been doing some research on this type of program recently. So far, the only model I have found
offers employees a reimbursement of 50% of eligible expenses, to a maximum of $1,000. The reimbursement represents taxable income to the employee. Benefits are limited to one
adoption per employee per year.

Tim, I am also researching adoption benefits and there is alot of information out there. Probably the best is from the National Adoption Center who will send you free information and a list of companies who use the benefits. Call the NAC 1-800-TO-ADOPT. Ask for the "An Employee's Guide to Advocating for Adoption Benefits" packet. Work with the NAC to get a good start!!! Hope that helps.

Tim, we have an adoption benefit here at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare/Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Boston, MA. The Adoption Assistance Program will provide a payment of $2,000.00 to help pay for the cost of legal adoption. Regular full time and part time (.50 - 1.0FTE) who have completed three months of continuous service are eligible to participate. The benefit provides $2,000.00 per child, up to a maximum benefit of $10,000.00 per family. The adoptive child must be under the age of 18. An Adoption Request Form must be completed and submitted to Benefits within 90 days following the adoption date. The benefit is taxable income. Employees will receive the benefit in their regular check. Although I am new to this organization and do not work in Benefits I beleive this benefit has been available since at least April of 1993.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
