Do you know of any companies that provide employees with retirement lifestyle coaching and planning to help with the emotional transition to retirement, along with the financial aspect of retirement planning?

Do you think people would find this of value, if it was offered?

You may want to contact an employee assistance provider. We used to use an EAP called Archeus and they had workshops or would customize workshops for various topics. This sounds like it would fall within that area.

Outplacement companies offer this service. I am interested in what the ROI is for the company... how do I justify the investment in the course?

Retirement Lifestyle Planning helps people determine how prepared they actually are for retirement. It draws their attention towards the benefits of work that they will miss if they have not prepared to replace them. The result is that employees may decide to either postpone retirement until better prepared, or seek more flexible work arrangements so that they do not need to leave the workforce completely. This could help with the shortage of skilled labour. By providing this type of planning in-house, it also demonstrates that the company cares about its workforce.

Yes, there are a number of companies that provide "holistic" or "life-planning" based retirement education.  Known names include Shell Oil and Boeing.  Then there are contractors like me who provide retirement education programs for companies like Weyerhaeuser, which used to have an in-house program.  --Andy Landis, Thinking Retirement http://www.andylandis.biz
