Is anyone using or going to use social media, texting, etc. to communicate any benefits information for open enrollment or ongoing? We are exploring how to reach out to our non-exempt, young workforce

We don't use any of that right now. In my opinion, the company must have a proven method to deliver important business communications to it's employees, that is not dependent upon whether or not the staff person decides to log in to some social media site or not.

It might be ok, to use some of that as a supplemental method, but I would not put any reliance on it for formal communication.

That's just me.

How many young employees are you talking about? If you have thousands, I would imagine social media should be part of the overall strategy. If you only have a few, I'm not sure the benefit of this approach vs. rounding them up in a room.

We would have all our formal materials but thought about using social media as another communication tool. We have probably 1,200 or more employees who use social media.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
