We've been hearing a lot about customer satisfaction and its importance as the centerpoint for employee training and management.

A couple of companies that we have run across in Australia are using customer feedback to drive employee bonuses and recognition. A good system exists for real time customer feedback by sms.

What should we be watching out for as we proceed down this road.

Well, I am not in Australia, but my first thought was to watch out for kickbacks and fraud. That is close relationships between employees and customers that would influence their responses -- possibly to the point of them colluding together for the employee to get a bonus to be split with the customer.

Honestly, while customer service is important, it should just be a part of any performance based compensation scheme.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
