here's a link to wage law on the topic:
http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm I would start there to make sure you will be paying them correctly. Internships vary a lot depending on the industry. And it is going to depend on how deep your employer wants to go and the end goal of the internship. I am not sure you will find a standard template out there. One thing I have seen though is where over the internship, the intern rotates through a number of departments to get a good idea on what each one does. (Then again I know a few companies that also do this with all new hires). |

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (http://www.naceweb.org) is a professional association that specializes in helping employer develop college recruiting programs - internships being one of the main programming resources.
There is lots and lots of information on the site, including internship research and benchmarking all the way to a guide on how to create a program. Check them out. |

Our state Chamber of Commerce offers a free program and online intern/employer matching service at www.indianaintern.net. Even if you aren't interested in the intern database, there is an Employer Toolkit for starting an internship program. |
