What are some strategies or approaches to benchmarking to look at the total employment benefit package? We are to update our employment value proposition to better align with our values and company mission and goals.

What are you trying to benchmark?  Are you sharing the benchmarking data with your employees?  I tend to think that's not a good idea since you're setting yourself up for criticism in areas that you may potentially be below the benchmarks.  And employees rarely see "the big picture".
